SOFTWARE WALKTHROUGH: Buy-Me Button™ Setup Instructions


Login to the management console link provided in the store build email.

Once inside, click on the Buy-Me Button™ link at the top left hand side of the screen.

After clicking the link, it will come to the Buy-Me Button™ Introduction screen. Click the Create button at the bottom to continue to the first step.

Step 1 - Skill Level

You need to select a skill level. Skill levels do not change the difficulty of the setup; they just enable more options. Here is a description of each of the skill levels:

Basic
  • General Buy-Me Button™ Features

Intermediate
  • Custom shipping
  • Discount certificates

Advanced - Recommended
  • Custom handling charges
  • Designate items as taxable or non-taxable
  • Design Custom Buy-Me Button™ Image

Step 2 - Customizing Your Shopping Cart

This is the section where you are able to customize the color scheme and images that appear within the Buy-Me Button™ shopping cart. This is broken down into 4 sections:

A. Select A Shopping Cart Color Scheme B. Select a Default Buy-Me Button™ Image Or Design Your Own Image C. Create your Buy-Me Button™ "Banner" D. Upload an image for your "Banner" (Optional)

Section A is where you can change and customize the colors of the shopping cart screens. B is where you select the image you would like to use or you can design your own custom image. Section C is where you have to type in the text banner that will appear at the top of the Buy-Me Button™ shopping cart pages. And D is optional, but it allows you to upload an image banner to appear at the top of the Buy-Me Button™ shopping cart pages.

Once everything has been completed in each of the 4 sections, scroll to the bottom, and click next on the right hand side of the page.

Step 2 - Customizing Your Store (Cont'd)

This step is where you can add discount certificates to their Buy-Me Button™. You have the option to enable discount certificates or continue to the next step without continuing. You will need to make a selection and click the next button.

If you selected enable discount certificates, please continue reading. If you selected not to enable these at this time, please skip to the next step below.

To add a discount certificate, you need to enter in a Code that will be used to apply this discount. You then have to put in the minimum purchase required. You have the option of giving a discount by Percentage Off or Dollars Off. Add in the dollars off or select the percentage and then click the next button to continue.

Step 3 - Business Information

At this next screen, you need to first add in your state’s tax rate in decimal format. (Example 6% = .06). Then add in your business address information. Next add in the primary and additional email accounts. These are the email accounts that will receive invoices when an order is placed. Adds in your homepage/domain name address. This is where your customers will be linked back to after a successful transaction. There is then a text box to enter the DBA name. Last, you will be able to add in text of all of your different policies. These include (in order): Terms and conditions, refund policy, product description, invoice subject lines, thank you message, up selling message, and privacy policy. You can then choose to make CVV2 field mandatory and display the Verisign logo.

Step 4 - Shipping and Handling Options

This is where you will select the shipping types your cart will be using.

There are 2 different options. You can select the preintegrated rates which use shipping api software to get prices directly from the selected shippers: (USPS, FedEx, UPS) If you want this option, they will need to select the radio button below Pre-Integrated Rates and check the checkboxes of the options they want to give to their customers. You also have the option of selecting the preintegrated rates and selecting the order of appearance of the shipping choices.

Or you can select custom shipping. If you would like to create your own custom shipping, select the radio button below that option then click on:

Then you will have the option to select custom rates by price, weight, or percentage. Select an option and click next to continue. Add in the ranges of prices, weights, or percentages and corresponding shipping costs until the table is completed. Then click next to continue.

You will also have the same options for setting international shipping rates. Follow the same steps as above.

You will also have the ability to add in additional shipping page fields and text boxes. Within this step, you can add in text boxes or text areas, and choose whether or not to make the fields required.

Last, you can choose to have a gift message area appear on the shipping information page. Click the next button when ready to move on to the next step.

Step 4 - Shipping And Handling Options (Cont'd)

Next you have the option of adding a handling fee to your orders. You have 3 different options. First is one charge for the entire shipment. This will add the handling charge one time to each order placed. The next option is the per item handling fee. This will add the handling fee to each item that is purchased. The last option is advanced handling which is a custom handling fee that is setup later on when adding in items to the internet store. You will need to make a selection and click next to continue.

Step 5 - Load Items

This is where you enter your catalog information. You can either choose to enter items one by one, or you have the option of doing a Database Upload.

If the merchant chooses to enter products manually, please skip to the next step. For a Database Upload, please click on the Database Upload link. You will have to upload a file formatted as described below:

  • YOU MUST FORMAT YOUR TAB DELIMITED FILE EXACTLY AS LISTED BELOW

1. Ensure each line of the file is consistent with this format: ItemNumber ItemName Price Weight

2. The file must be saved as a Text File (.txt), in a Tab Delimited Format.

3. When you are ready to import your items click on the Browse button below.

4. A window will appear asking you to locate your item file on your local machine.

5. After you have located the file press the Open button.

6. There are 2 types of uploads available: Update Catalog List or Overwrite Catalog List Update Catalog List will update any changed item information and add new items. Overwrite Catalog List will replace the existing catalog file. Select one from the menu and click on NEXT to continue.

For those who are entering products individually, you need to enter Item Number, Item Name, Price, and Weight.

After entering this information, you then have the options listed under Additional Options. Here you can choose to set the item to be taxable, setup the item for recurring billing, or setup pull down menus. You can then repeat these steps until all of the Buy-Me Button™ items have been entered.

After all steps have been completed, you are given the option to view all of their Buy-Me Button™, or they can search for specific buttons to display. When the Buy-Me Button™ are displayed on the next screen, the HTML code is displayed next to the image so you can simply copy and paste that code into their existing website pages
